CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) There was a good attendance of business people at the meeting called to consider plans for the Christmas festival at Manaia. It was decided to carry out the same programme as last Christmas. ■ Mr L. G. Nielson presided. Messrs S. H. Greaves and G. Watts were appointed joint secretaries. Committees were set up as under: Lorry, Messrs C. Jeromson and W. J. Badley; toys and soft drinks, Mrs Cassidy, Messrs W. Lewin and F. Chisnafl; advertising, Messrs L. C. Watson, G. Watts and L. Simmons; lighting, Messrs P. Hammonds and J. Jeromson; collections, Messrs L. Young and C, Jeromson; musical, Messrs J. Cosgrove, L. Walters- and C. Abbott. It was decided to send ’buses to lvapnni (twice). Otakelio (twice), and An ion on Christmas Eve. A greatdeal of general business was transacted in connection with the festival. All the business people were keen to make this Christmas festival most successful, The subscription was fixed at £l.
