NIGGER MINSTRELS.
EVENING AT MOROJA. (Cont ribute cl.) Last Friday evening the Alanutahi Nigger At i nst re 1 Troupe very kindly journeyed to Mokoia, and gave a brilliant, entertainment to a crowded 'house, there being visitors present from all parts of South Taranaki. The Minstrel Troupe was formed some few weeks ago,- but anyone who witnessed their performance would have thought it had been in existence for some considerable time. “Massa Johnson” and his party had the.house in fits of laughter from start to finish, encores being the order of the evening. The local “hits” came flying out in good style, and the hall has never been so full of blushing people before. As one was “hit” the colour could be seen rising rapidly, but he would have the satisfaction a few moments later of seeing his neighbour in the same predicament. The happy sporting spirit was shown by all throughout the evening; iff fact, some are still laughing about the “hits” the darkies scored at their expense.
At the conclusion of the concert the president of the Football Club thanked all for their attendance, and especially thanked the Nigger Alinstrels for the very fine evening’s entertainment, a vote of thanks being carried with much enthusiasm. As a result of the evening’s takings the Football Club will benefit considerably. If at any future date this troupe should happen to take the stage again, it is to he hoped they will not forget to pay another visit to Mokoia.
