HIDES AN D ’TALLOW SALE. At the usual fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides and tallow held by the N.Z. Loan and Alercanti’e Agency Co., Ltd., the offering.was a large one, and comprised all grades. There was a full; attendance of exporters, tanners, fellmongers and the local trade, and the competition generally was very keen. Sheepskins.—The market was very firm for all •descriptions of dry skins, with best skins often a little dearer. Salties were, if anything, a- little easier on last sale rates. Hides. —The catalogues comprised some nice lines of abattoirs’ and butchers’ hides, prices for lieaviey being Id per lb better than last quotations, while mediums were Id to- Id better, the lights par to -Jd. Kip and yearlings sold well, and advanced Id per .lb. C'alfs were .slow of sale, and values generally were Id per !b lower than last sale rates. Tallow.—Fair demand for shipping lots, prices being fully Is per cwt. lower than last quotations.
