SMITH’S OVERLAND SERVICE.

II AW ERA TO WELLINGTON. DAILY SERVICE. Since Mr. H. Smith established his motor service between Hawera and Wanganui there has been a great development of the motor passenger services along this coast, and the S.O.S. has gradually extended its operations till it is now possible to travel from Wellington to New Plymouth and vice versa wholly by motor, two ears leaving each terminus daily, arriving; respectively at Wellington at 3.45 p.m. and 6 p.m. This service also gives the quickest conveyance between Taranaki. Napier, and Wairarapa, connecting with the railway service at Ashhurst. Between Marton Junction, Wanganui, and Taranaki towns the services are more frequent, and a reference to the time-table published in this paper daily is necessary to secure full information as to the extent the travelling public is catered for by Mr. Smith’s organisation. It will, be noted that the fare from Hawera to Well.ngton is only £1 15s, and passengers may be picked up in Hawera and. landed at any part within the Wellington business area without extra charge. We can testify to the reliability of this -service, and the unvarying courtesy alike of its conductor and his staff.
