THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION ) DUNEDIN. Nov. 16. The sixth day of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church was held to-day. The Churchi Property Trustees’ report- was adopted, also that of the -Supply and Appointments Committee. Deputations were received from all denominations in the- city, and welcomes were extended. Members of the New Zealand Alliance were also present, and addressed the house. They received an enthusiastic promise of support and sympathy. The Rev. D. Calder, representative of the British and Foreign Bible Society, was also received. In a discussion on the Temperance Committee’s report, emphasis was laid on the need for educating the young in temperance principles, and determination was expressed to carry on the fight. Tire deliverance was adopted. _ The Assembly urged the necessity to introduce into schools scientific instruction concerning the effect of alcohol, and urged that in view of the legislation to be introduced in the near future the people should impress on members of Parliament the need for a two-issue ballot paper or preferential voting.
