A drastic expedient, in the shape of a temporary standstill order for a period of three weeks over the Midlands and South of England, has been imposed by the Minister for Agriculture, in his determination to stamp out the spread of foot and mouth disease, which is threatening to reinvade the country from Continental sources. Sixteen counties have been affected during the past seven weeks. In certain specified cases, movements of cattle will bo permissible within the affected area, but ,under no conditions to .a free area. —Reuter.
