BEECHAM’S BORROWINGS. “UNCLE” TO GET £7OOO. LONDON, Nov. 2. In the action brought by a moneylender, Samuel Glaskie, against Sir Thomas Beecham, and in the course of which the defendant admitted that he had borrowed £20,000 to £25,000 in 1924. and between £30,000 and £40,000 this year, the judge, delivering reserved judgment, held the interest demanded to have been excessive and the terms harsh and unconscionable. He 1 accordingly reduced the rate of interest from 100 to 50 per cent, and entered judgment for £7OOO. Glaskie had claimed £IO,OOO. representing £6OOO for bills cashed. £2OOO monev lent, and £2OOO interest.
