TYPHOID EPIDEMIC.
TWO DEATHS. INNOCENT “CARRIER.” LONDON, Nov. 2. An extraordinary typhoid epidemic has broken out at Streatham, a southern suburban district of London. There have been 27 cases. All the sufferers belonged to the Mitcham Lane Baptist Church. Two women have died, including the Minister’s wife, while several are in a critical condition.
Doctors traced the source of infection to the milk supply, but found the cows, the farm equipment, and the dairymaids to be free from infection. Ultimately, they discovered that a healthy milkman was innocently carrying infection. Although he had never suffered fx - om typhoid, he consented to enter hospital for treatment.
