ELETOi'EIO LIGI IT CARINIVAL. SHOW NIGHT. r lhe .Hawera Amateur Athletic Club’s electric light sports meeting, which is the annual Show night attraction, will be held on the Showgrounds on Wednesday evening next at 8 o’clock, and the usual splendid programme is assured. 'the club has increased the number of athletic events, so that there will be a rare least or running, cycling and j umjping. Altogether there are four cycle events, with heavy entries in each class, and with wellknown riders .such a.s C. Griffin, Roy Tippett, Ronnie Wells, T. Lay, and Stenning Bros., the iniblic will ee some thrilling contests in this branch of sport. In the running events strong teams are coming from Wanganui, P'atea, Stratford and New Plymouth. eight members of the Pa,tea, 01 ub having entered already. A number of new runners will be competing in the various events. The large number of beats and finals which will have to be run will ensure no dull moments or waste of time. The Haivera Municipal and Highland Pipe bands will play items during the evening. It is desired to point out that the club will have to deposit £3O as a, guarantee for the world and American champions to compete at Hawera on Feburary 3, and a large attendance of the public at Wednesday .s carnival will assist the club to raise the guarantee.
