SHOOTING.
CLAY BIRD CHAMPIONSHIP. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) HAMILTON, Nov. 13. There were twenty-three entries for the North Island day bird championship, which was decided at Makurn to-day. The weather was squally and the light varied as the match proceeded. The eompetiton with 21 birds* produced some excellent shooting, and four men each attained the possible, namely, C. Seddon (Hamilton), L. R. Hughes (Auckland), H. Clinch (Waimarino), and W. Semmens (Wb a kata lie), while F. Curtis, who' yesterday won the .-6100 handicap, came next with 20. Three others, V. J. Smith (Auckland),. C. Campbell (Hamilton), and A. Dobson (Auckland) each dropped 19 birds. In the shoot-off Clinch, who had been dead on the whole way through the competition, was declared the first North Island champion. Clinch won the Dominion championship at Hamilton three years ago, and is an exDominion sparrow champion.
