♦ TOWN BOARD WORKS. The following is an estimate cost of work which the Normanby Town Board proposes to carry out during the current year: Main Road. —100 yards of metal, £80; 4680 gallons of bitumen, £234; 20 Oyards of shingle, £120; wages, £80; contingencies, £2O; total, £534. Less Government subsidy, £175; nett cost to ratepayers, £359. . Ketemarae Road—The estimated c-o-st per chain for work on this road is as follows:— 10 yards of metal, £7 10s; scarifying and rolling, 10s; wages (which depend on how many boulders will have tO' be broken), 15s; total, £8 15s. There are about 20 chains to be done on the road, and it is the board’s intention to do as many chains as the funds will permit during the current year.
