FARMERS WIN
INDUSTRIAL FIGHT. TROUBLE AT BOWEN OVER, PRODUCERS’ FIRM STAND. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Nov. 10, 10.40 a.m. BRISBANE, Nov. 10. The industrial position at Bowen is much brighter and many farmers are returning to their homes. The wharfs labourers on Friday decided not to handle cargo except under the rotary system, but on Saturday the farmers insisted that the wharf labourers should hold a meeting. The farmers surrounded the meeting and refused to allow a number of extremists to take part. After the meeting •was addressed by farmers, who stated that unless the produce was loaded the watersiders must he prepared to take the consequences, *the watersiders decided to load the cargoes, pending a decision of the State Government’s committee which is investigating the rotary system. The chief trouble now is lack of ships to take the sugar away.
