FARM IMPROVEMENTS.
THE CLETRAC TRACTOR. DEMONSTRATION YESTERDAY Economy in labour and in time on the work of the farm is always a point worth consideration by the farmer _Wiio wishes to get the utmost out of his land and to, secure the greatest efficiency in every way. ' , And one of the • avenues through which comes that efficiency is in the use of up-to-date labour-saving machinery. Of such is the Cletrac tractor. Based on the whippet tank of the late days of the war, this little “pocket” edition is a compact machine propelled by two caterpillar wheels about five feet in length by about a foot in width. This mechanism not only enables it to climb up and down rough patches and over stumps, but makes it practically impossible to get stuck in soft ground. It has a power of 12-20 h.p., 12 off the draw bar and 20 off the pulley for chaffcutting or such work. The weight is in all 31 cwt. Its length N over all is Bft and width*bft, and it can turn practically withoux any fear of capsizing m a 12ft circle. , It was tested out yesterday in a demonstration on Mr. Harrison’s farm at Kapuni before a number of district farmers, .and all expressed themselves very pleased with the work done. It was tried in all classes of country, smooth and rough. To demonstrate its power it was yoked to three farm implements that usually take, in the aggregate, ten or twelve horses, and it pulled the trio easily. The test yesterday was rather comprehensive and all the farmers present expressed themselves as quite satisfied with the results achieved.
