ITALY AND RUMANIA. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Nov. 7, 1.50 p.m. Washington, Nov. 6. President Coolidge has authorised an announcement that good progress is being made with the Italian debt negotiations, and there is every indication that a settlement can be reached. The President is especially pleased with the i complete candour which has characterised the negotiations. The announcement followed a White House conference with Mr A. W. Mellon (Secretary ■ of the Treasury) and Senator Smoot. Meanwhile the Roumanian Debt Commission of seven members, headed by Nicholas Pitulesko, has arrived at New York, and is proceeding to Washington immediately.
