SOCCER.

At the present time there are no fewer than 750,000 footballers enrolled as members of the Eootball Association (says a writer in a London paper). Yet 30 years ago there were only about 1000 members. The credit for building up what is now the biggest organisation of its kind belongs very largely to MmF. J. Wall, the 67 years old secretary of the association. Mr Wall, who has been called the Sphinx of Football :—and no man knows more football secrets than he—is to-day one of the busiest men in the world of sport. Recently he told me that he has to begin dictating his letters at 8 a.m. daily,%so heavy is his correspondence.
