FINAL GALLOPS AT ELLERSLfE.*
(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 5. Final gallops took place at Ellerslie this morning. The weather was line, excepting for light showers. All fast work was done on the outside of the course proper, which was very fast. Cherry Girl ran six furlongs in 1.21 a-5.
Gala Day and Broad wood ran six furlongs in 1.20. , The Thorn and Anklet ran five furlongs in 1.6 3-5. Tactician, Gold Fern, and Joy Rid© were on terms over a similar distance in 1.6 2-5.
Seatown and Helen ran five furlongs in 1.81-5. easing up over the last furlong. Royal Present beat Polonett over a mile in 1.44 4-5.
Ballymoy and Motley did four furlongs in 50 3-5. Civility and Siaosi ran five furlongs in 1.5 2-5. . „
Kamehameha, Te Monanui, Far North, Star Ranger, Town Bank, Muraahi, were to be started over 'a mile and a quarter. Kamehameha broke away alone and went round in 2.41-5. The others finished in this order: Far North, Star Ranger, Te Monanui, Town Bank, Barometer, and Muraahi. The full distance took 2.16 4-5, and the last round 2.2 4-5.
King’s Speech defeated Merry Damon over six furlongs, but no time was taken. Daylight ran the last five of six furlongs in 1.6 4-5. Vaward, Star Area, and Royal Mint went a mile, the last seven furlongs taking 1.421-5. Gold Acre beat Dave over four furJftigs in 49 4-ssec. Master Doon, and Arch Afnie finished in that order over five furlongs in 1.6. King Smock and Snow Smock ran six furlongs in 1.21 2-5. Kiosk and Lysander went four furlongs in 51 l-ssec. Dal Eaton was in, front of Nippy after six furlongs, which took 1.19. Oration started off -at the five furlongs post and was- picked up _by Hipo at three furlongs, Oration finishing in front in 1.4 4-5, the last three taking 38 3-osec. Ring the Bell and La Qhoucas ran six furlongs in 1.17 3-5. Lady Ridicule worked on the tan at a strong pace. -Uralla and Pelham were together at the end of half a mile in 52sec.
Royal Tea* covered half a mile in 54sec.. not doing his best. March Away, Hassock, and De Bell did half a mile m 52sec. Value and Phaola were together at the end of five furlongs, run in 1.4 3-5. Desert Glow finished in front of Finelli at the end of six furlongs in 1-17 3-5. * Roller and Price went over the big fences, including the hill, Roller showing to the most advantage. - Karamu jumped four hurdles nicely. Tuki went over the fences on the flat twice and gave a fairly good display. , Musketoon started out over a round on the tan with Knighthood, being brought home hy Nucleus in 1.59.
WORK AT RICCARTON
y CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 5. ”The weather was fine for training work at Riccarton. Work was done on the plough except where otherwise stated. Solferite beat Prosperity over .seven furlongs in 1.35 1-5. Runnymede was a little better than Oreum over a mile in 1.45 1-5. Rapine ran a mile and a quarter in 2.11 1-5. , „ , Goldspear coveied six furlongs m 1.17 2-5. Sunart beat Clarinda over seven furlongs in 1.32 1-5. Centerpiece beat Rivalry over a mile in 1.46. Star Stranger and Tiega took 1.47 to do a mile. Deucalion and Merry Day were well matched over a mile and a quarter on No. 7 track, running the distance in 2.7.
Te Kara did' a working gallop over a mile and a quarter in 2:45 2-5, Captain Sarto accompanying him over the last six furlongs. Peneus did six furlongs in 1.16. Commendation led Decoy Bird and Vertigern in a sprint down the straight. Tanadees, Phoenix Park, The Banker and Shining Armour were in that order at the end of a mile and a quarter, run in 2.13. Victory Bond ran five furlongs in 1.2, and Tresham nine furlongs in 2.1, finishing several lengths of Kalakaua, whose rider lost a stirrup. Clarina did five furlongs on No. 7 track in 1.15 1-5, Inferno ran six furlongs in 1.16 2-5. Sun Up easily beat Countersign over half a mile bn the outside of the course in 49 3-ssec. . . Reremoana did half a mile in 49sec, Money Order doing it in 48 3-ssec. Lucinius and Mimetic ran five furlongs in 1.3 2-5. • Paper Chase did three furlongs on No. 7 track in 36 2-ssec. Starmist went six furlongs in-1.16 on the same track. Jarrettier beat Giantkiller over seven furlongs on No. 7 track in 1.29 3-5. . „ „ Royal Divorce easily beat Fool s Paradise over six furlongs jn 1.17 2-5. Agitato beat Dazzling Light over a mile on the courses in 1.45 2-5. Mandane did a mile and a quarter on the course in 2.11, the last mile taking 1.43 3-5. Footfall and Goldetep did a mile and a quarter, the last mile taking 1.44 3-5. Ravena and Lucinette, accompanied by Polymnian over the last seven furlongs, ran a mile and a quarter on No. 7 track in 2.7 3-5.
Count Cavour easily beat. Carpentier over a mile and a quarter in 2.10 3-5. Limited sprinted four furlongs in 49 3-ssec. Philanderer beat Kikume over six furlongs in 1.18. Lava and Enare r were well matched oyer six furlongs in 1.17 2-5. Sunny Loch and The Cheat were together over seven furlongs, run comfortably, the last six taking 1.19 2-5. Ahika. schooled alone, fell at the first hurdle, but afterwards jumped four well.
Adjutor outjumped Avispado , over four hurdles, but the latter caught up each time on the flat. Adjutor fell at the last hurdle. Will Oakland beat Finora over six furlongs. Happy Davs beat Fulman over seven furlongs in 1.33 3-5. Paper Boy did three furlongs m S7&ec. Merry Singer jumped four hurdles well. . .. Overdrawn beat His Majesty and Waikaia over four furlongs on the course in 49sec. Avrbum did four furlongs on No. 7 track in 49 3-ssec. Scrip beat Bachelor in a sprint down the straight. Sartist ran seven furlongs in 1.29 4-5. Celerity 11. beat Jeux Floraux in five furlongs in 1.4 3-5. En Route was much better than Bonomel in schooling over four hurdles.
Southern arrivals last night include Shandre, Moorland, Last Dart, Comic Song, Mythology and Fulman.
