MELBOURNE, Nov. 3. At the wool sales competition in all sections was very strong and prices advanced five per cent, as compared with the October sales.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., reports as under: ‘ We have received the cablegram from our London house under date 30th ultimo: New Zealand frozen meat —Lamb, llad per lb (average); mutton, wether and maiden ewe, light S£d per lb, light 74d; ewe, light 6fd, heavy 6fd. Market weak.

ADDINGTON MARKETS

(BY TELEGR AjCH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 3. Entries were very heavy at Addington to-dav on account of the market being a double one, due to the interruption caused by carnival week. The sale did not conclude until 8 p.rn. The market was firm throughout. Store Sheep.—A small entry and a fairly free- sale, though pricse were not- so good as last week, duo to an inferior class of stuff forward. Ewes and lambs (all counted) made to 345. Spring Lambs. —419 were penned. A good sale' for well-grown lambs, but a decided drop for small sorts. The bulk of the offering averaged from 30s to 40s.

Eat Sheep.—Extra prime wethers to 57s 3d prime 48s to 545, medium 44s to 47s* (id, light 38s to 435; extra prime ewes to 44s Id, prime 40s to 435, medium 37s to 39s Gd, light 34s 6d to 36s 6d; prime shorn wethers, 40s to 48s 4d, medium 35s to 395, light 29s 7d to 345; prime shorn ewes 35s to 40s 7tl, medium 30s to 345. • Fat Cattle. —Extra prime heavyweight steers made £26 to £29 12s _6d; prime heavy, £22 to £25 10s; medium weight, £lB to £2l ss; light, £ls to £l7 15s; rough, £l2 to £l4 10s; extra prime heifers, £lB to £2O 7s 6d ; prime, £l4 5s to £l7 10s; ordinary, £lO 10s to £l3 15s; light, £8 to £lO os; extra prime co\vs, to £2l 2s 6d; prime, £l3 10s to £l7 ss; medium, £lO 5s to £l3; light, £6 to £9. Dairy Cattle. —A very small entry and slow sale, with frequent passings. Best second, third and fourth culvers (springing), £8 to £l2; medium sorts, £4 10s to £7 10s; poor sorts, £2 10s to £4; springing heifers, £5 to £8 ss; old cows in milk, £1 7s 6d to £2- 10s. Fat Pigs.—Choppers, £4 to £7 15s; light baconers, £4 5s to £4 15s; heavy baooners, no to £7 (average price per lb 8d to 9*d); light porkers, 55s to 655; heavy porkers, 70s to- 78s 6d (average price per lb Old to 10d).
