LABODE IMPEOVES ITS POSITION BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT.

LONDON, Nov. 2. The results of the municipal elections in England and Wales show that Labour hast substantially improved) its position, gaining many seats from Conservatives and Liberals. A similar result is shown by the few London contests so far declared.

Later advice shows, that though the Socialists gained many seats, the mass attack on London failed. The. Socialists lost 316 seats in London in 1922, of which they retrieved about a quarter of the seats, but moderate reformers still have a considerable majority on most councils.
