RAILWAYMAN'S REFUSAL
PREMIER’S ULTIMATUM
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. Received Nov. 4, 10.45 a.m. BRISBANE!, Nov. 4. Following on the refusal of the railwaymen at Bowen to deliver coal to the wharves, the Premier, My, W. McCormack, announced that the Government would be compelled to take steps to see that its authority was not undermined.
The Premier had previously threatened the men with dismissal if they refused to handle coal.
QUIET AT FREMANTLE

The situation at Fremantle is quiet. The seamen of the O'rsova agreed to accept the owners’ terms and to return to work.

PERTH, Nov. 3. gr- The police at Fremantle have been \ issued with rifles and bayonets t<> withstand a further onslaught if eventuates. It is thought this is unlikely, in view of the severe nandlmg the strikers received yeserday.
