POODLES PARKED HERE.
DOGS IN ARMS. PAMPERED PETS. NEW YORK. Oct, 21. Fashionable ladies who visit New York’s best restaurants have now to park their poodles l>efore entering the dining-room. The practice of carrying about toy terriers, Poms, Pekingese and other small dogs, which has always been the vogue in Paris, has become very popular among New York’s most expensive women. Frequently a maid specially employed for the purpose has charge of the miniature canine, which is passed over to its mistress every time she fee's an excess of tenderness. Recently the head waiter of a leading hotel was horrified when a member of the younger set doubted the ‘‘niceness’’ of a delicacy placed before her. ‘■You, try it. Carlo,” she said, putting her poodle on the table, “and bell mother if it’s good.” Owing to similar incidents, good restaurants now provide luxurious kennels for the convenience of their guests.
