(From Our Own Correspondent.) Hallow o’en was an undoubted' success in every way, but especially f from the children’s viewpoint. The procession in fancy dress was very effective and reflected great credit on the parents and children alike. Air. and Airs. Allen, of Pihama, acted as judges and had a vex-y difficult task, finally selecting Gwen Beer (Alaori), Bob Hill (Father Christmas), Willie Crawford (Swagger), and Alax Hill (Poster) for the different classes. Alany boys were dressed as girls, and vice, versa, making it difficult to single them out (with masks on). This explains why three boys got prizes. The adults danced in the main ball to music supplied by Aliss Pollock, while Aiessrs B. Coupe and S. Watson acted as Al’s.C. Air. Kirk played the march on the bagpipes for the children and also for the .step dances throughout the evening. These were given by Alisses B. Ross and J. Kirk and Alaster Athol Ross, and were much appreciated, as were the songs by Air. Simmons and recitations by Mr. Bennie. The haggis procession also caused much fun and was enjoyed by a. large percentage of the audience. During the evening Airs. H. Ruiwiler won the cake she had presented, and kindly) gave it back to be auctioned. The large box of chocolates was won by Air. Taunt, and the case of spoons by Alaster W. Conaglen. In tlie side room the children were well catered lor with treacle bun eating, apple bobbing, and the chamxnis dish —a saucepan of mashed potatoes containing small presents (rings, thimbles, keys, buttons, etc.); a number got round with spoons and then dipped in as the light went out. After supper, Mr. Gilslman entertained the children with, sleight-of-hand tricks, which were very good and much enjoyed. The prizes for fancy dress were given by AIT. and Airs. Templeton, to whom a great part of the success of the evening was due. Helping them in the supper-room were Mesdames Hughes, McKinnon, and Coxhead, *and Aiessrs Palmer, Wemyss, Hughes, and AleKin non.
