ENTERTAINMENTS THE GRAND—TO-NIGHT. “THE BELOVED BRUTE.” Sport and motion picture fans were treated to a rare bit of action in the visualisation of Kenneth Perkins’s novel,.’ ‘‘The Beloved Brute,” which opened at the Grand Theatre last evening. In one of the sequences there is a very realistic wrestling match between Victor McLaglen and William Russell. To-night is the filial screening. OPERA HOUSE- AND GRAND THEATRE. ELECTION NIGHT. “F.ORTY WINKS.” Wednesday evening at both theatres, the Opera House and the Grand, will witness the, first screening of. Paramount’s comedv drama “Forty Winks.” Viola Dana, Theodore Roberts and Raymond Griffith are featured in the principal roles. The story is a melodramatic comedy, and has to do with the Hon. Lord Algernon Cholomondeley —Chumlev for short —who succeeds in solving a mystery, saving a family name and winning the girl lie loves. Theodore Roberts, cigar and all, is back as big as life in this one._ He is cast, as a retii’ed admiral. An international crook steals some valuable fortification plans from his son, a naval lieutenant. It means prison for the young fellow and disgrace for the Butterworth family name if the papers are not recovered within 48 hours. Chumley, in love with Eleanor Butterworth (Viola Dana), sets about the -solution of the mystery and his “detecting” lands him in many an uncomfortable position from which he manages to extricate himself in a most . amusing manner. The .supporting programme is of equal merit. In addition, by arrangement and by the courtesy of the Hawera Star, all election results will be punctually screened a,s thev, come to hand. Patrons are advised to reserve if they desire good seats.
