TENNIS.
MATAPU CLUB. The annual meeting of the Tennis Club was held last evening, Mr. James O’Sullivan presiding over a good attendance. 'the balance-sheet disclosed a credit of £2l 18s 4d. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to the officebearers of the past year, the satisfactory position of the club being the result of their untiring efforts. The following were elected office-bearers for the season:—Patron, Mr. O. J. Hawken, M.P.; president, Mr James O’Sullivan ; vice-presidents, Messrs. Adams, E. Beech, A. M. Conroy, It. Free, E. Harrison, W. A. Guy. AY. McL’Dowie, P. Pettv, A. P'reece, V. Scott, W. Seed, H. Sharp, Y. O. Wright, and Q. Willis. Mr. Hooker was re-elected chairman, Miss Hawkes secretary and Mr. Adams treasurer.
The outgoing committee was appointed to carry on, with the addition of Misses Frethey' and Hooker and Messrs Cole, Freak ley, and Thomas. The subscription for the season was fixed at os. and the opening day arranged for Saturday, November 14. A committee, Messrs-Cole, D. Guy, R. Hooker, Seed and Sharp, was appointed to make the necessary arrangements for the occasion. • %
