THE LICENSING ISSUE.
MR. CORRIGAN’S VIEWS. The Hawera branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union has received from Mr. J. R. Corrigan his replies to a questionnaire on the licensing question. In many eases the questions asked practically coincided w T ith those submitted by the New Zealand Alliance, the replies to which have been published by advertisement; but two additional questions on the W.C.T.U. list, with Mr. Corrigan’s replies thereto, were:— Will you oppose the transfer of licenses from one district to another? — Yes. This is the work of the licensing committee. Will you oppose any legislation giving power to restaurants to sell alcoholic iiquor after six o’clock in the evening? —Yes.
