New Zealand choicest is quoted at 21.4 s and unsalted at 218 s. Australian, salted and unsalted, is quoted at 2065. Danish "was Hat early in tho week, but recovered on reports of better clearances and is quoted at about 2245. The cheese market is firm and unchanged. LOCAL MARKET REPORTS. ' The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd. (Hawera branch) report: At Opunake, on the 27th inst., we held our usual fortnightly sale. Prices were on a par with recent sales. Me quote: Store cows from £2 8s to_ £3 6s, good springing and calved heifers £8 to £lO. inferior sorts £4 to £6 10s. At Palmer road, on the 30th inst., we conducted our fortnightly sale. All classes of stock were sold under the hammer at ruling rates. We quote: Forward cows to £6 4s, empty cows £3 Is to £4 10s, aged cows £1 Is to £2 Bs, best springing and calvecl heifers £7 to £lO. inferior sorts £4 5s to £6 10s, yearling hulls to 6Jgns. During the past week stock , has changed hands at the following prices: Fat wethers to £2 ss, fat ewes to 365, shorn fat ewes to 27 fi, prime bullocks (light) to £l6, prime P.A. heifers to £ll 10,s. fat co-tvs from £8 10s to £ll.

Dairymen aie in a better position now, the milk yields having gone up considerably. Eat stock io still firm at late rates, but cows are coming away very last and will help to relieve the position very shortly. Store cows have oeen eagerly competed tor, stoic bullocks being short, in supply and very hard to rind. Runs have held firm, ana total clearances at the yardings uave been the general mie. Dairy ‘heifers have met with a fair to good sale, quality has only been fair, very few outstanding heifeis are coming forward and the season is just about finished.

At Auroai on Friday, 23rd inst., we held our usual fortnightly sale and annual bull lair. Stores met with a ready sale and bulls sold exceptionally well, in fact one of our best sales tilts year, due no doubt to the good quality and condition of the bulls. Ridding was particularly spirited on good beasts, and vendors must very quote: -—Light fat cows, £7 10s; to pleased with the lesults obtained. We £9 os; forward cows, £4 15 to ,£U; good stores, £3 os to £4 10s; empty cows, £2 loss’ to £3; aged cows, £1 10s to £2; good quality yearling heifers, £5 10s; pedigree aged bulls, 25 guineas; yeaning-pedigree bulks, 16, 16 £ to 18 guineas; good grade two-year-old bulls, 15, 16, 20, 22, to 22J guineas; grade bulls, two-year-old, 10 to 14 guineas; aged grade bulls, 5 to Si gumeas.

At Okaiau-a on Tuesday we had a light yarding and a good clearance at prices on a par with recent, saies. We quote : —Good paddock cows, £‘4 10>s to £4. las; empty cows, £3 7s to £3 las; aged cows, £i 10s to £2 16s; springing heifers, £7 10s, £S 10s to £9. At Kakaramea on the 27th we had a fair yarding and a very fair sale at prices on a par with late rates. We quote : —'Young boars, £1 10s, to £2; good fattening cows, £3 17s 6d to £4 13s; good store cows, £3 to £3 15s; aged cows, £2 to £2 10s i boners, £1 5s to £1 15s; pedigree bulls to £ls l;5s; yearling bulls, 8$ guineas; beet springing heifers, £7 to £9.; other springing heifers, £5 10s to £6 10. At Bltham on Wednesday the 28th inst. we had a good yarding to a good attendance of buyers. A real good sale and a total clearance was affected at prices firm at late rates. We quote.: Bat cows, £B, £9, £lO to £l2 15s; forward cows, £6 to £7; good store cows. £4 to £5; empty cows, £2 15s to £3 10s; aged cows, £1 10s to £2 os; good quality yearling Jersey heifers, £5 to £5 10s; best dairy heifers, £7 IQs to £10; poor conditioned, £6 to £7. At Hawera, on Thursday, 29th inst., we had a good yarding of bullocks and store cattle and a very fair entry of dairy stock. A very good sale resulted over the yarding, fat cattle being well competed for. Pigs sold well at slight advance on our last sale held in these yards, over 130 being sold under the hammer. We quote: Forward porkers, £3 Is to £3 10s, heavy stores £2 10s to £3; good stores 38s to £2 ss; light stores, 30s to 355; weaners 21s to 275; small weaners, 15s to 17s 6d; empty cows, £1 10s to. £2; fat hoggets., 335. Bulls: Pedigree 2-yr. hulls to Signs; pedigree yearling bulls, 20 to 30gns; good grade 2-yr. bulls, 14J to iCgns; do. 8 to 13 months yearling Shorthorn bulls, 4gns to bulls, 20gns; prime Hereford cows, £l2 12s to £l2 13s; light fat cows, £7 12s 6d to £9; prime vealers, £6 17s 6d; forward cows, £5 10s to £7; paddock cows (good), £4 15s to £5 ss; do. stores, £3 IQs to £4 ss; cows with young calves at foot, £5 to £5 10s; store bullocks, £8 15s; 3-vr. tseers. £6 to £8; 2-yr. empty heifers, £4 4s: young store cows had one calf,. £3 10s to £3 14s; yearling heifers, mixed quality. £3 os to £4 ss. At Waverley on Friday, 30th inst., we had a good yarding and a good attendance of buyers. Fat cattle were eagerly competed for, a real good sale residting. Stores advanced slightly on late rates, and a good clearance was made under the hammer. We quote: Pigs: Small stores, 30s: weaners, 20s to 255. Bulls: Grade 2 Jersey bulls, 11 to 17igns; small yearling do., 3 to 4:{gns; Hereford bulls, lOgns. Fat cattle: Fat bullocks, £l4 15s to £ls 2 S Od ; fat cows. £9 4s to £ll 11s; fat heifers, £7 17s 6d to £8 17s 6d. At Raponga on .Friday, 30th inst., we held our fortnightly sale end annual bull .fair. A very good sale resulted throughout the yarding. We quote : Grade 2-vea r hulls. 11’ to 13|gns; aged grade bulls. 8 to lOgns; yearling pedigree bulls, low conditioned, 7 to Bgns; 2-yr. pedigree bulls to 20gns; forward cows, £4 15s to £5 10s; store cows, £3 os to £4 ss; aged cows, £1 to £2 ss.
