THE PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE. REDUCED CHARGES FOR ADMINISTRATION. The commission charged by the Public Trustee for the administration of estates has recently been substantially reduced. With a few minor exceptions commission on the capital of estates when realised is now charged according to the following scale: — On the first £SOOO, 21 per cent. On the next £SOOO, 11 per cent. On the next £40,000, 1 per cent. On excess of £50,000, J per cent. When assets are transferred in kind the charges are:— Oa the first £SOOO, 1 j per cent. On fhO' next; £SOOO, 1 per cent. On all in excess of £IO,OOO, 1 per cent. The commission charged, on rent or on interest on mortgages has been reduced from 5 per eenk to 21 per cent, on amounts in excess of £SOO per an mini. The Public Trustee has power to reduce the charge when such a course; is warranted, and reductions are readily made in suitable cases.
