NEW ENGLAND COMPANY SUED
A LINK WITH CHARLES II
Th© L°NDOA ( o ntario), Sept. 10. The, New England Company, which u as formed during the reign of Charles II for the purpose of “propagating the Gospel of Jesus Christ among the heathen natives of New England,” has been named as defendant in' an action brought by the Crown in the Exchequer Court- on behalf of the Six Nations 1°!, recove r a sum of about 1(• ),000 dollars. The claim concerns certain lands entrusted to the care of the company by William IV. The sum of money originally involved was onlv small, but with the passing of a century it now amounts with the accrued •terest to the total mentioned above.
