STARVATION AND RUIN

PLIGHT OF FARMERS.

PRODUCE HELD UP.

THROUGH ROTARY DISPUTE

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.

(Received Oct. 28, 12.60 p.m.), BRISBANE, Oct. 28. Advices from Bowen state that a lawless element is terrorising the residents. It is reported that armed extremists are intimidating the waiersiders from taking part in a secret ballot on the rotary system. The position at Inkerman is alarming, and unless relief is* forthcoming this week the farmers will be faced with starvation and utter ruin. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce it was decided to telegraph to the Premier declaring that his protection was demanded, otherwise it was feared that the farmers, who are now desperate, will take matters into their own hands. *
