ON THE HUSTINGS.

ISSUE OF A PAMPHLET. INTERESTING STATEMENTS. (by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN, Oct. 28. A somewhat sensational statement has been made by Mr A. H. Vile, editor of the North Otago Times, concerning a pamphlet he issued three years ago, when he was the LiberalLabour organiser. This statement was denied by Mr Forbes, National Leader, who passed through Dunedin yesterday. ,Mr Vile states that the pamphlet w&s approved of by Mr Wilford in wfiting, and Mr Veitch led him to understand that- the executive was delighted with its publication, yet when a member in the House, who is now a Minister, challenged the pamphlet, Mr Wilford repudiated it, stating that it was unauthorised. He later wired to Mr Vile, stating that he was compelled to pursue that course because certain references to the wheat subsidy might jeopardise Mr Witty’s seat, Messrs Forbes and Sidey state that the pamphlet was never submitted to the executive, and when Mr Forbes read it he at once saw Mr Wilford and informed him that it was unauthorised and objected to it. Mr Wilford said the pamphlet was unauthorised, and had wired to Mr Vile that he must cut out anything officially connecting the party with it. So far as he understood Mr Vile had issued the pamphlet on his own initiative.
