P. P. A.

LABOUR DAY CONFERENCE/

(Contributed.) j The annual Labour Day P.P.A. Conference was held this year in Whiteley " Hall, New Plymouth. Representatives from groups scattered throughout the province of Taranaki were present, and much interest was taken in the proceedings. The morning session was devoted to a consideration of matters affecting the association, and as one result a resolution was put and carried , drawing the attention of Protestant ministers to the menace of mixed marriages. /

The afternoon session was taken up by what amounted very nearly to a debate on “Socialism and Communism whether Protestantism is compatible with the doctrines held by these parties.” Rev. Howard Elliott, who was present, delivered a scathing attack on these bodies, and he was heartily thanked for his address. v

It was decided to hold next year’s conference at Hawera.
