A pleasant gathering took plane ins's week : at the Farmers’ Co-op garage when Mr Stan Smart, who has resigned the position of foreman to take up an engagement with a Wellington f|rm, was made the recipient of a silvermounted oak tray presented by the staff. Mr Ferguson, the garage manager, in making the presentation, referred to the good feeling which existed between Mr.. Smart and the staff, and drew attention to Mr. Smart’s loyalty to the firm. The change meant promotion, and he/ was sorry to lose such a capable “right hand” man. Mr. Ferguson congratulated Mr. Smart and wished him the best of luck in the future. Mr Clarke, the head office accountant, voiced the feelings of the office staff in the loss of such a popular member, and assured Mr. Smart that the staff would remember the happy associations of the past six years.* Mr. Smart suitably responded.
