'KjAPONGA CLUB Hi ACTIVITIES SIXTH ANNUAL BULL FAIR. A RECORD FOR. THE SEASON.

The top price of the day 75 guin-eas-—was paid by Mr Richmond, Otorohanga, for the two-year-old Burnside Kiwi, .sold on behalf of its breeder, Mr Stan. J. "Hollar'd, of Rowan, this is a fine type of animal .showing good conformation and the approved Jersey characteristics. Sired by Bessie’s Iwylish, which has 6 0.0. R. daughters, Burnside Kiwi has a splendid backing of butterfat producing rmcestry. .His sire traces back to Lord Twylish, the imported- sire of many noted producers, anil to Campanile's Sultan, from whose blood sprung the famous Pretty Pint, 'which recorded 1010 lbs. fat, whir. Burnsides Kiwi’s dam, O'akden Gertie, shows the strain of the imported grand-sire of Vivandiere, with a record of 1036 lbs. 54 guineas was the next highest price, this being the bid at which Air. P. Keightlev, of Waitoa, secured Air. E. Joyce’s" (Kaponga) two-year-old Greendales Zola’s Hope. 4 his was another outstanding type ol Jersey, and is a son of Zala of Rosy Creek, which with 741.21 Ibis of la.t was the Dominion gold medallist at three years of age. Both the prices mentioned were in advance of the top figures at contemporary sales this season, the next- in order being 50 guineas, secured at the Waiwaikiho fair on the 13th hast. The attendance numbered approximately 200 and the sale was conducted by Messrs Newton King, Ltd., for whom Air. W. B. Fearon wieided the hammer.

'Prior to the commencement pf. the sale Air. E. Griffiths, the chief of Alessrs Newton King, Ltd’s, stock department, delivered a brief address, daring which he complimented the Kaponga Club on its activities and (he successful work which in conjunction with contemporary clubs it was carrying out in popularising the breed. Continuing, he said that on looking oyer the animals yarded he was of the opinion that they were of a uniform good type and were in excellent condition, considering the had winter which had been experienced. Air. Griffiths alsostressed -the advantages of securing good sires of proved producing strains and congratulated Air. A. L. Hooper, of Alahoe, on his enterprise in securing the imported bull, Xenia’s Oxford Lad, which the speaker considered .was one of the finest Jerseys ever imported into the Dominion.

Luncheon and afternoon tea were provided- by a committee ladies, representing the Ivaponga. Croquet Club, their services meeting with general appreciation. Particulars of sale appear below, the vendors being shown in alphabetical order:
