ELTHAM.

METHODIST CHURCH. ‘ A very .successful anniversary tea and concert was held in the Methodist Church, on Tuesday evening. One hundred and fifty guests sat down to an excellent tea provided by the ladies of the church; the tables being tastefully decorated wiith Iceland {poppies and daffodils. The concert attracted a large audience, and every seat in the church was occupied. An excellent programme, arranged by the church organist, Mr. A. H. Turner, was given by the choir, assisted by visitors from other churches. Fraternal greetings from the sister churches were given by the Rev. Isaacson (Church of England), Rev. B. J. Orange (Presbyterian) . and 'Commandant Glanville Army). A new hymn book for pulpit.' use was presented to the church by members of the congregation. Mr. H. Gubb, in presenting the report and balance-sheet, urged all to stand by the church in these difficult and strenuous times. The church is free of debt. It is expected that the flower show and fancy fair on December 9 will wipe out the circuit debt, and that steps will be taken to clear off the debt remaining on the manse. Considerable improvements have been effected during the year to the property. The electrio light -has been installed in the church and manse, and concrete paths put down by voluntary gifts. The chairman, the Rev. W. W. Avery, expressed liis thanks to all who had helped in the work of the church during the year.
