ON THE HUSTINGS.
IN OtRO'UA ELECTORATE (by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) FEILDING, Oct. 21. Mr. R. Oobibe, National candidate, addressed a very large meeting at Feilding last night and was enthusiastically received. He favoured amalgamation with moderate political parties and would not support any noconfidence motion moved by the Labour party in the House. He criticised the extravagance of the past administration, claiming that the formation ,of a Nationalist Government would put a check on isuteh extravagance. He favoured the maintenance of Singapore Base and an adequate defence scheme. He advocated a freehold land policy, agricultural bank, the ward system of election of representatives of the Dairy Control Board. The candidate received an almost unanimous vote of thanks.
A ROWDY MEETING. AUCKLAND, Oct. 21 Yelling, shrieking obstructionists, including several women, made pandcmonum of a meeting addressed by Miss Melville, the Reform' clandidajt© for Grey Lynn. The uproar was led by a woman with a shrill voice. The candidate was subjected to continuous interruptions throughout her address, and at question time, thundering voices tried to drown the speeches in reply to the candidate’s answers. A vote of no confidence was moved, “owing to the candidate's lack of knowledge,” hut an amendment of thanks and confidence was carried by the candidate's friends, who were in good force, while the opponents cheered the Labour candidate and sang “for he’s a jolly good fellow.”
PRIME MINISTER'S TOUR, ENTHUSIASM AT WHANG ARE I. WHANGAREiI, Oct. 21. A rousing reception was extended to the Prime Minister at Whangarei Town Hall last night by a full capacity audience of thirteen hundred people. Mr. Coates recapitulated his policy programme, previously enunciated. A vote of thanks and confidence was enthusiastically carried, the whole audience rising and cheering him.
SUPPORT FOR, MR. COATES. WAJMAUKU, Oct. 21. At a largely attended meeting of supporters of the Hon. J. G. Coates held last night, the Prime Minister wia.s released from addressing the electors. Those present pledged themselves to work whole-heartedly for an overwhelming majority for the candidate. IN WAIMARINO. OHAKUNE, Oct. 21. Mr F. Langstone, the member for Waimarino, opened his campaign in his larger centres at Ohakune last night to a large .attendance. He severely criticised the Reformers and explained the Labour Party platform.
