This an opportune time for the wholesaler and retailer to work together, because his success is yout success and your success means you’ll buy more goods from him, pay your bills promptly, and a number of other things which directly contribute to his success. So . you are, in a way, partners. Much'of the chaos,of bust* ness will disappear when there is a, deeper appreciation of mutual obliga,tions on both the part of the wholesaler and retailer —there must be fairdealing on both sides. And this idea of mutual obligation extends to the commercial travellers also. In many, many instances the influence that the commercial travellers exert upon business is not recognised, but they are the greatest missionaries to-day for the good of the retailers. A man constantly on the road,. absorbing new, profitable, workable ideas, in a sense doing research work, can and will pass this data along to retail merchants if given the opportunity. .And when a travelling man ? obtains the confidence and trust of liis customer, his influence is greater than his firm realises. His customer is influenced
