CAR PENTER’ S DISPUTE. (BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 15. The Conciliation Council further considered the Dominion dispute created by the Carpenters and Joiners’ Society with a view to securing a Dominion award. Practically the whole of the general provisions taf the old award were agreed to, hut the general provision in respect to ship work was amended, to, provide that overtime should commence after eight hours on an ordinary day, and after four hours’ work on Saturdays, instead of after 44 hours per week had been worked. It was decided that no exceptions should be allowed to private employers, firms, or companies. . The council ds now considering the question of hours of work.
