FIGHT COMING IN N.S.W. SWAMPING THE COUNCIL. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received Oct. 15, 11.10 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 15. Mr Lang, the N.S.W. Premier, stated yesterday that the Government will now drop the local Government Amendment Bill. It will not accept the Council’s challenge at present, as it intends to pick its own battle-ground. The Premier indicated, that when additional appointments were made, at least twenty new members of the Council will be appointed probably, all pledged to carry out the abolition of that Chamber.
