A Germo-Russian commercial treaty has been signed at Moscow. It recognises Russian foreign trade monopoly, allows German banks and trading houses to open Russian branches, and frees German Nationals in Russia from labour and military requisitions. SYDNEY, Oct. 13.
In connection with the bogus race books circulated at the Randwick spring meeting, two men, Corson, a printer, and Solomons, a bookbinder, were committed for trial on charges of forging a. hook with intent to defraud. Two others, Flack, a newsvendor, and Robinson, a newspaper distributor, were committel on charges of uttering. All pleaded not guiltv.' LONDON, Oct. 12.
Seeing the only chance of avoiding a collision was to dash across the line before the arrival of a steam train, the driveled an electric train approaching a junction at Llandudno station just failed to- clear the danger point. The third coach, containing forty school children, was partially wrecked, but none was seriously injured. The fourth carriage was smashed to matchwood and ten were injured. LONDON, Oct. 13. ’ A statement in the annual report of the scientific and industrial research committee to the Privy Council states that during the year experiments were made as how best to freeze beef. The general theory of the freezing of oolloids had been advanced to a point opening the way to a ratidnal attack on the problem. It was revealed that freezing displaced the contained water, which may involve permanent alteration of a microscopic structure, and consequently the permanent destruction of the finer molecular structure.
