The stock came in very good condition, despite the backward season, and tne various animals made a very good showing when brought for sale. The very late spring in the Manawatu and adjacent districts undoubtedly affected pbpipetitton, as farmers would naturally put bade then buying to a later date, when stock may he found in better condition for breedinn. The breeders from distant parts, however, made the competition keen, and a very sound .market prevailed throughout for Friesian and Reel toil bulls and Red Poll females On account of the poor milk flow at the piesent time, pigs were easier, but the 33 head averaged over £/i los M. -The comparative average prices with those of last year (in parentheses) were as followll Friesion bulls, 41 2-3 trns (7 at 27-1 gns.) ; 10 Red Poll bulls, 41 gns.
