AGREEMENT REACHED.
ON SECURITY PACT. CONCESSIONS ON BOTH SIDES. BY CABLE —PRESS .ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT LONDON, Oct. 12. The Berlin correspondent of the Daily Mail says an agreement was reached at the conference at Locarno oh the security pact. Germany waived her objection to article sixteen of the League’s covenant conditionally on the Allies’ support of modification of the article after Germany’s entry. The Berlin correspondent of the Daily Telegraph states that while most newspapers continue to protest at the inflexibility of Germany's demands at Locarno, Dr. Stresemann’s special mouthpiece, the editor of the Tagliche Rundschau, who is now at Locarno, sums up the situation as a 90 per cent, probability that the pact will be concluded, and that a positive result may be almost' definitely assumed. though concessions by both sides are unavoidable. The Berliner Tageblatt pays a remarkable tribute to Mr. Austen Chamberiain’s statesmanship, declaring that there has hardly ever been a conference where a single delegate played so important a role. It adds that delegates in all circles pay a tribute, to his cordial amiability, conciliatory temperament, and urbane tact in overcoming difficulties.
