■ FURNACE BLOWN UP. THREE 'CASUALTIES. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Oct. 9, 12.15 p.m LONDON. Oct. 8. An explosion off Ushant, in a. furnace of the liner Roman Star, which sailed from South Africa under difficult circumstances in consequence of the strike, killed one and' injured two firemen.
A -wireless message says that the explosion cannot be accounted for, hut is presumed to he due to tlie presence of. a detonator in the coal. —Reuter.
