CAMPAIGN IN RANGITIKEI. (by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) MAR.TON, Oet. 7. Mr Alfred Lyon, the National candidate for Rangitikei seat, opened his campaign last night. He dealt principally with a criticism of Reform expenditure and deprecated the importation of railway experts, thereby creating a big pension list. He blamed Reform and Labour for consenting to the writing off of a quarter of a million, due, he alleged, to losses of stores and through embezzlement. The speech was mainly an attack, and did not bear on the National policy. TAIHAPEi, Oct. 7. Mr W. S. Glenn, the Reform candidate for Rangitikei, opened his campaign yesterday, when he spoke, at Pukeokahu and Taoroa, receiving votes of thanks and confidence in both places. The candidate dealt chiefly with Dominion finance and the Government’s land policy, and emphasised that the electors need care in choosing between Mr Coates, Mr Forbes and Mi- Holland. MR. BOLLARD AT TAUPIRI. AUCKLAND, Oct. 7. The Hon. M. Bollard addressed his constituents at Taupiri last night. He claimed for the Government prudent finance, and said that New Zealand’s expenditure compared favourablv with that of any of the Australian States. He also claimed that the Government was entitled to credit for the successful administration of State services. He was accorded a vote of thanks and. confidence. ON THE EAST COAST, WHAKATANE, Oct. 7. Mr. F. E. Hockley, Reform candidate, addressed the electors here last night, his speech, being well received. He said he was a strong supporter of Mr. Coates, who had infused new spirit into the departments under his control. Mr. Hockley was strongly opposed to the Labour’Party. A hearty vote of thanks and confidence was carried.
