He was removed to the Patea Hospital, where he is progressing satisfactorily. SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held on Monday. Present: Messrs G. Spratt (in chair), Currie, Kerr, Christensen, Wallace, Aiken, and C. A. Browning (headmaster). The headmaster’s report stated that the “Midget” footba'l team had won the eight meals presented oy Mr. Haywood, president of the Wanganui Metropolitan Union, and that Mr Weekes, also of that body, had. presented three more of the same pattern for the three boys who had to stand down during the season owing to their age.—On the motion of Mr Spratt, -a hearty vote of th-onks was accorded jVIi Weelces for this very generous gift. Of the staff Miss Hopkirk is at present on sick leave, and Mr Liggins fills the vacancy temporarily. 'The headmaster requested that a load, of gravel, be placed around the hoys’ flag pole in the school grounds.—This was left to the visiting committee. _ The secretary, Mr Currie, read specifications and tenders from Snow and McKenzie, of Wanganui, for the laying down of two tennis courts in asphalt, the tender being £l9B 16s. After some discussion, it was decided to hold the matter over pending ‘ consultation with Mr Hodge, the board’s architect.

It is hoped to proceed with the laying down of at least one tennis corirt during the summer vacation. Mr Browning reported that practically all the tickets were' sold for the school concert. Final arrangements were made, and some considerable discussion arose over the provision of supper for the children. It was eventually decided that owing to. the probable lateness of the hour at the conclusion of the programme, it would be better not to provide supper. Mr Warden, of the Wanganui East School, had written to the headmaster of the Waverley School suggesting .a day’s picnic visit some time during November. Mr Browning was very much in favour of this, and the committee considered it a vbry wise proposal.—lt was resolved that a picnic be held during the month of November.
