EXECUTIVE MEETING
TARANAKI CENTRE
Much important business was transacted at tne executive meeting of the Taranaki Bowling Centre on Saturday. There were present: Messrs A. K. Smart (president), E. Dingle, M. G. .Nasmith, E. Bary, F. Julian, S. Adamson, J. D. Sole and A. T. Moore (acting-secretary). The compilation of statistics for the directory of club members was considered, and it was resolved to impress on those clubs whose returns are not in the need for preparing lists of members at once.
A request from Waitara to withdraw from the central division of the shield competition and enter for the Gilmour Cup Thursday competition was granted. In amplification of the minutes of the Dominion Association’s annual meeting, the jiresident gave a report on the business transacted. He said that at present the Dominion tournament could not be held in New Plymouth on account of the lack of hotel accommodation. Tie added that amendments to the rules of the game as forwarded by Taranaki were adopted. The matter of the itinerary- of the British bowlers, in view of a change in port of arrival, whs left in ,/the President’s hands. The reception and entertainment of the visitors in New Plymouth was left to the executive members in that town. A suggestion was made that two games against the visitors be played on the day set apart and that two entirely distinct teams be selected. The selectors are to meet at Stratford to select the teams. , Messrs Smart, Nasmith and Sole were appointed a committee to revise the rules of the game and make any suggested alterations to the New Zealand Howling Association. 'The levies for the year were fixed at the same rate as last vear.
It was resolved’ that the open tournament of the Taranaki Centre he commemed on Monday, January 25, or the day following, the actual date to lie determined later. Matters in connection with the New Vear ami open tournaments of the Centre were left in the hands of the local members to deal with. The matter of providing certificates for winners of the tournament® held by the Centre was brought forward, and it was decided that designs applicable to Taranaki bowling be sought, to be submitted to a later meeting of the executive.
