“AN INDISPUTABLE RIGHT” LAST POSTPONEMENT.” BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT Received Oct. 5, 11.10 a.m. CONSTANTINOPLE, Oct. 3. NO ' SCUTTLING OUT. WAR TALK. DEPRECATED. LONDON, Oct. 3. Mr. L. C. Amery, Secretary for the Colonies, speaking at Sparkbrook, strongly attacked those newspapers who are opposed to the Mosul policy. He declared that the reckless disregard of some newspaper critics was little short of incitement to the Turks to attack British territory. A policy of “scuttle” would have boon, dishonourable. He was anxious to hasten the day when Iraq would cease to be dependent upon Britain, “but it was never intended that we should wash our hands of Iraq after 1928. We have a responsibility there, little though it might matter to the plutocrats’ press.” It was not a personal policy, but the policy of the Cabinet. He did not believe there was any question of war. If there were such a risk it had been created by the cowardly and hysterical attitude of certain newspaper proprietors. . , -
