LABOUR IN BRITAIN. RESULT OF CONFERENCE LEADERS PLEASED. UY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRHIGT. (Received Sep. 3, 12.40 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 2. The Labour Conference has concluded. The chairman declared that they had disappointed all who wanted to see the conference prove a fiasco. The movement seemed to him to be more solid than ever. As the delegates dispersed a number sang “The Red Flag.” In the course of a debate, Mr Herbert (president of the Miners’ Federation) declared: “When the miners iy:lopt Communism they can sack me; I do not believe in it. It cannot get us anywhere.” He declared that the miners would vote twelve to one against Communism. They couldi fight without Communists. “You who talk revolution have not as much fight in you as a spaniel dog. The miners are fighting for a better wage for everybody.” It was announced that Mr Robert Williams was elected chairman of the new executive. Mr F. O. Roberts, M.P., is vice-chairman. Mr Ramsay MacDonald, in an interview, said he was delighted with the conference. It had been a great consolidating conference. They had removed mountains of misunderstanding, and the industrial and political sections of the party were now better coordinated than ever.—Reuter.

INSPIRING SESSION. MR. MACDONALD'S IMPRESSIONS Received Oct. 3, 1.10 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 2. Mr. Macdonald, in a message to the Daily Herald ’.says that the conference showed the spirit whereby Labour will set about the task of national reconstruction. It was splendid in commonsense and it must be careful not +o go on fussing about with the activities of any small group. “It bad to deal with them at Liverpool and, having done so, lee us proceed with our- work. It was a fin-e inspiring conferenco and gave confidence and strength to the whole movement. ’' JVIr.
