PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mr H. Harrison, the well-known clay pigeon champion gunshot, is confined to his bed by a serious illness. Mr O. J. Hawken, M.P.. arrived' in E'tham last evening and commences his addresses to the electors immediately. The Hon. Thomas Hislop, M.L.G., died last night at liis home iat Wellington. Up to a few days ago he was apparently in the best of health. Mr C. H. Courtney has arrived in Eutham to take over his duties as secretary of the Eltham Dairy Co. Mr C. Powell, who has been engaged on the reporting staff of the Eltham Argus, has accepted a position with the Otago Daily Times, and leaves on Monday for his new position. Rev. R. Creed Meredith, M.A., Vicar of Wanganui, has been appointed Archdeacon of Waitotara This means that Archdeacon Meredith, who will retain the Vicarage of Wanganui, will have the oversight of the Church: of England parishes in a very large area, including the city and its neighbourhood and extending as far north as Eltham.
