“FOR THE EMPIRE’S CAUSE.
IN MEMORTAM. STRACK.- —In loving memory of Lieutenant Karl Justus Struck, 10/28/22, killed in action at Passchendaele, October 4th, .1917; aged 23 years. Yea, and although deep in our hidden souls We know that with him all is well, That nothing we could e’er have done for him Can equal this which Death has won for him; That nothing earth could e ’er have, given to him Can come anigh the joys of heaven to him; Yet still the mortal in us craves him mortally, And nought shall stay that craving till, On some bright day we, too, shall slip the clinging clay, And find him there awaiting us upon the heavenly way.
Inserted by his loving parents, brothers and sisters, and Miss Lily Hulbert (Motueka).
