As soon as the. court assembled, counsel for the plaintiff informed Mi Justice James that the case had bee ll settled on. terms filed in court. Mr. Justice James thereupon discharged the jury and entered, a verdict on the terms submitted, avhich were not qis--1 the terms of settlement were not officially disclosed, it. is known that Madame Lauzanne receives £2OOO, and Resell pays costs, wtocii at the lowest estimate amount .to over £2OOO. , , , ~ .. Madame Lauzanne stated alter, the settlement was announced that she was terribly disappointed, as she knew that if the case had gone to a hnisn she would have won, but she deterred to the judgment of her counsel. The case was the biggest in the breach of promise history ofAustralia. The costs amount to £3500.
