PRESS CONFERENCE.
VARIOUS MATTERS DEALT WITH
SY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT ‘ MELBOURNE, Sep. 30; Lord Burnham, president of the Empire Press Union, has sent the following cable to Lord Rosebery: “The third Imperial Press Conference sends greetings and best wishes. Your speeches were quoted by the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Labour Party and myself.”—Burnham. Lord Burnham said he felt that the message would deeply touch Lord Rosjibery, who was now ill andi who welcomed the first conference of delegates and had always taken a big interest jn Imperial affairs. Lady Burnham read a paper on the Women’s Society of Journalists, which, she said, was governed by broad>minded women. She conveyed the society’s greetings. _ j Resolutions, submitted covered better telegraphic, inter-Empire communications, urging low charges for the wireless transmission of news, regretting the delay in erecting beam wireless stations, and urging the completion of same.
